This course builds upon the foundation laid in AR-15 (Basic). Building upon existing skills and techniques to a level which allows performance with precision, control and economy of movement.

For advanced shooters, this course provides an opportunity to sharpen previously learned skills and provides a comprehensive tune-up. Your understanding of the techniques taught in AR-15 (Basic) are assumed upon registration.

This is an intense and dynamic course. Breaks are limited and you the shooter are expected to maintain the necessary level of concentration and stamina. The class is taught from the aspects of home protection i.e. home invasion and open area medium to long-range engagements. Unless you are attending in an official capacity such as military or law enforcement and want to work from a duty rig. There is a modest level of physical activity required for successful participation.

Course topics include:

  • Weapon safety
  • Situational awareness
  • Equipment selection
  • Weapon condition codes (loading/unloading, show clear)
  • Battle Sight Zero (BZO)
  • General maintenance/cleaning
  • Stoppages/Malfunction
  • Use of cover/concealment
  • Multiple target engagement
  • Weapon transitions primary (rifle) to secondary (pistol/revolver)
  • Dynamic movement/firing positions

Course Requirements (Students are required to have the following for training):

  • Fully-functional AR15 rifle
    • 4 magazines, 20 round capacity minimum
    • 500 rounds minimum of rifle ammunition
    • 200 rounds of handgun ammunition
  • Personal Protective Equipment, commonly referred to as “PPE”, hearing/eye protection and headwear (brimmed hat) are mandatory
    • For your safety, eye protection must be ANSI Z87+ rated and marked
    • Gloves, plate carriers, and knee/elbow pads are optional
  • Rifle sling
  • Fully-functional handgun(s) e.g. semi-automatic pistol, revolver
    • Semi-auto pistols are required to have a minimum of 3 magazines
    • Reloading moon clips, speed strips and/or loaders are highly recommended for revolvers
  • Holster (Inside or outside the waistband)
  • Magazine pouches (rifle/pistol) are optional but are highly recommended
