3TAC Training Solutions Defensive Handgun Training Program is an intuitive shooting program designed to help the student be more efficient with a handgun in the context of a worse-case scenario ambush-style attack. Defensive Handgun courses teach the skills necessary for success in a defensive handgun engagement; this includes gun-handling, tactics and mindset.

Our training program is based on years of constantly evolving information about how the body works and what really happens during dynamic critical incidents. It has been heavily vetted by the diverse group of instructors that are certified to teach it and the thousands of students who have been through the course world-wide. The program features a variety of specialty training methods and philosophies that the student will be able to utilize on their own after course completion. This will enable to the student to continue to develop their abilities.

Classes are open to the following:

General Public, Law Enforcement, Military (Active/Reserve/Retired/Veterans), Private Security Personnel

Defensive Handgun (Basic)

This course introduces students to techniques applicable to defensive handgun use. Emphasis is placed on shooting-skill development for application in critical real-life situations. The fundamentals of marksmanship, gun-handling/weapon manipulation, situational awareness and defensive mindset are taught/discussed in classroom lecture while the hands-on aspects are taught/supervised on the range.

Course topics include:

• Weapon safety
• Situational awareness
• Equipment selection
• Weapon condition codes (loading/unloading, show clear)
• Stoppages/Malfunction
• Drawing from the holster
• Single-handed shooting (strong/support side)
• Use of cover/concealment
• Multiple target engagement
• Dynamic movement/firing positions

Course Requirements (Students are required to have the following for training):

• Fully-functional handgun(s) e.g. semi-automatic pistol, revolver
  • Semi-auto pistols are required to have a minimum of 3 magazines
  • Magazine pouches are optional but are highly recommended
• 200 rounds minimum of associated ammunition
• Personal Protective Equipment, commonly referred to as “PPE”, hearing/eye protection and headwear (brimmed hat) are mandatory, gloves are optional
  • For your safety, eye protection must be ANSI Z87+ rated and marked
• Holster (Inside or outside the waistband)
